China Global Television Network has launched a dedicated website for the Global South Directors Co-Production Program 2026 on October 17, marking the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The platform showcases international documentaries focused on sustainable progress and community-driven initiatives across developing nations.
Operating under China Media Group and aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the project functions through the Global South Media Partners network. The 2026 edition convenes media organizations and creative teams from approximately 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe to highlight grass-roots solutions in employment, housing, and social resilience.
Individual films explore local realities, ranging from a female-led agricultural cooperative in Jordan to academic water conservation efforts in Mendoza, Argentina. Agricultural sustainability remains a central theme, documented through household income generation in Burundi and grain production supply chains across agricultural regions in Russia.
Other works record basic infrastructure enhancements in Ethiopia’s Hadiya zone, energy projects along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and rural medical care in China’s documentary On the Rural Healthcare Front Line. Participating partners share distribution and broadcasting rights across multilingual platforms, with the website providing ongoing access to the collaborative productions.
